Science Technician


Burnside High School is seeking a reliable, organised and proactive Science Technician to join our Science Faculty. This is a permanent, part-time, term-time only position (22.5 hours per week), supporting the effective delivery of the Science curriculum.

The successful applicant will play a key role in preparing and maintaining resources for practical teaching and learning across the faculty. This includes preparing equipment, materials and solutions for experiments, supporting teachers with practical assessments, and ensuring laboratories are well-resourced, safe, and efficiently managed.

They will also be responsible for managing faculty resources and equipment, maintaining accurate inventory and safety records, and supporting the Head of Faculty with budgeting and resource planning. A strong focus on health and safety is essential, including the safe storage, handling, and disposal of chemicals and materials.

We are seeking someone who is highly organised, practical, and able to work both independently and collaboratively. Strong attention to detail, effective communication skills, and the ability to manage multiple tasks are important in this role. Experience working in a science environment or with laboratory equipment would be advantageous.

The ability to build positive working relationships with teaching staff and contribute to the smooth operation of the faculty is key. The successful applicant will take pride in maintaining a safe, efficient and well-supported learning environment for both staff and students.
